Upon joining the EU next year, Romanian and Bulgarian residents will be able to register .eu domain names like any other eligible party, i.e. anyone living in an EU member state.

Registration of domains will be possible from midnight of the 31st of December (New Year's Eve) onwards.

Interested residents of Romania and Bulgaria can already contact an accredited registrar and instruct them to register a domain name on their behalf as soon as this becomes possible.

Should EURid, in the course of its investigations, encounter domain names that were registered by Bulgarian and Romanian residents before January 1, 2007, i.e. before they became eligible to register .eu domain names, those names will be revoked in accordance with Public Policy Rules.

The registrants will be informed of the revocation of their domain names via e-mail.
