Derby are ready to run the rule over two Bulgarian Under-21 internationals.
Ivelin Popov, the Under-21 captain, and Ivan Ivanov are due to arrive early this week, possibly today.
Popov, 20, can operate on the right of midfield or up front and plays for Litex Lovech where he has scored eight goals in 32 games.
He started his career with his home-town club Levski Sofia but signed for Litex.
In 2005, he trained for four months with Feyenoord and was recently linked with Manchester City. He has won two full caps for his country.
Ivanov, 19, is a central defender who is playing with Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
He joined CSKA Sofia in 2005 and was part of the team that won the Bulgarian Cup and Bulgarian Super Cup in 2006.
Ivanov, who turns 20 next month, has made six appearances at Under-21 level.
He started both European Championship qualifiers against England last year. The first was in Sofia in September and the second at Milton Keynes in November. England won both games 2-0.
