The oldest protected tree in Sofia is a 650 years old mulberry.
The mulberry is in the Center of the city, near Central Public bath.
Another tree-a 600 years old oak-is located in village Skravena, near Botevgrad.
Both trees are in good condition.
At the territory of the inspection are 352 protected trees, most of them in natural provenance. Most of them grow out of populated areas. The owners of the protected trees are bound to preserve them from abolition and injuries.
Most of the protected trees are oaks, but there also are some sequoias, which are an exotic kind for our latitude.
One of the oldest sequoias in Bulgaria are imported from Northern America and are located in village Bogoslov, near Kiustendil and in Zelin, near Botevgrad.
