The politicians have increasing influence on the media. This was the conclusion of the held in Aachen discussion from “Reports without borders”, informed Deutsche Welle.

In Germany as well the freedom of the press is not used enough, marks the TV journalist Christoph Freuder. His colleague, manager of the TV channel of Deutsche Welle Christoph Lanz claimed that without freedom of the press no democracy could function and gave as an example the especially difficult process of changes in Bulgaria.

According to Lanz as a member of the European Union Bulgaria has “decent media legislation” but the structures of applying the laws are missing.

In addition the Bulgarian media are dependent on the funding from the state which thus can exercise considerable influence.
