Prince and princess Akishino on official visit to Bulgaria

Their Imperial Highneses prince and princess Akishino of Japan will arrive on official visit to Bulgaria on13-16 May, informed darik.net. The occasion for the visit is the 50th anniversary of the restoration of the diplomatic relations between Japan and Bulgaria.

The program of their Imperial Highnesses will include meeting with the Bulgarian president Georgi Parvanov and his wife Zorka Parvanova, the chairman of the parliament Georgi Pirinski, laying flowers at the Monument of the Unknown soldier in Sofia.

This is the first visit in Bulgaria of His Imperial Highness prince Akishino – the second son of the Japanese emperor Akihito and his wife Kiko.

The jubilee for the Japanese – Bulgarian diplomatic relations 2009 started with an official working visit of president Parvanov in Japan in January. The Bulgarian head of state and His Imperial Highness Akishino are honorary patrons of the celebrated year of bilateral friendship. Both Japan and Bulgaria plan rich cultural program for the 50th anniversary with special accent on the mutual high rank visits.

Their Imperial Highnesses prince and princess Akishino will visit also Austria, Hungary and Romania – 2009 is proclaimed the year of friendship between Japan and the Danube states, among which is Bulgaria.

The official visit of the Japanese prince in Bulgaria will open a new page in the traditional friendly Japenese-Bulgarian bilateral relations and will give a new impetus for their future development and deepening.
