Here you will find the latest articles, news, interviews and comments from today's Bulgarian press:

The Trud daily

"Combination Stanishev-Borissov is not a Sin", Dimitar Popov, ex Prime Minister, considers. In an interview for "Trud" he does not exclude a future joint coalition between BSP and GERB. And adds: "But after the leaders of the two parties are convinced that this is the only way for government. They have no right to another choice. The decision for such an unexpected coalition is not a sin. It is enough if it is in the name of the state and the good of the people." Dimitar Dimitrov commented the candidature of Solomon Pasi for chief of NATO in this way: "The offer that he joins NATO is a matter of honor, and national pride. Let Bulgaria's name be mentioned."

"SDS offered three anti-crisis measures", "Trud" announces. The leader of SDS Martin Dimitrov offered to make lay offs in the administration now, so that the country does not have thousands of unemployed in the summer. The Emergency and Administration Ministries were redundant, according to the right party. SDS is emphatic that the insurance weight must be decreased by 50%. Thus, at least 1500 levs will remain in each family per year. The third anti-crisis measure is that tax on merchants is decreased from 15 to 10%. The "blue" proclaimed themselves for the immediate resignation of Finance Minister Plamen Oresharski, because of the scandal in the National Income Agency.

The 24 chasa daily

"5000 to clean the dirty roads", "24 chasa" accentuates. This is a part of the new programme of the social ministry "Clean roads - safe trip". Social Minister Emilia Maslarova announced in an interview for the paper that the project starts in the beginning of April. "Roads are terrible, there are roots under the asphalt and every driver is a potential victim", the Social Minister explained. She warned that money will not be disbursed despite the crisis, but different approaches will be offered. A total of 60 thousand work places will be opened by the end of the year, 20 thousand of them will be in construction, while another 19 thousand will continue their 4 hour work with government aid.

The Sega daily

"The economy decreased its rate two times", "Sega" writes on its front page. In the last three months of 2008 our economy has substantially decreased its growth and is only 3,6% compared to the same period in 2007, preliminary data of the National statistics institute show. By the late fall the GDP increased by 6-7% per quarter and it was as if Ministers did not hear the grim forecasts that the global financial crisis will hit Bulgarian companies hard. This led to the calculation of a 4.7% increase of GDP in 2009, which is expected to be critical for Bulgaria. The data from the statistics show that for now only agriculture is resisting the blows - in the last quarter of 2008 the added value in the agriculture sector is 20.6% more compared to a year earlier.
