Topalov Challenges Kramnik

Former FIDE world champion Veselin Topalov has issued a challenge for a rematch with Vladimir Kramnik. This was announced by Zivko Ginchev, a spokesperson for Topalov.
There is a FIDE regulation that states that any player with a rating of 2700 or higher can issue a challenge for a match of 12 games for the World Championship title against the incumbent World Champion. Condition: the challenger's side has to provide the prize fund of one million dollars. Now Silvio Danailov, the manager of former FIDE world champion Veselin Topalov has issued the challenge.
Bulgaria is ready to organize a rematch between 12 and 30 April in Sofia. The competition will take place under the patronage of the Bulgarian President Georgy Parvanov, who was one of the first people to support the idea.
Bulgaria is ready to pay the prize of 1 million dollars. No taxes of any kind have to be paid by the winner. $250,000 go to the opponent and $300,000 will be granted to FIDE. All organizational costs will be covered by the host country.

2006, Kramnik, still considered the Classical World Champion, defeated reigning FIDE World Champion Veselin Topalov in a unification match, the FIDE World Chess Championship 2006.
The match was marred by controversy over Topalov's protests about Kramnik's frequent use of the bathroom. Kramnik forfeited Game 5 after refusing to play when the Appeals Committee altered the conditions of the match. The match was tied at 6-6 after 12 regular games and Kramnik won the rapid tie-break 2.5-1.5.
His scandalous behaviour and the the fact that computer cables were found in his rest room are still debated in the world's media.
