The Dutch government will finance a traffic research of Sofia. After that should be elaborated a central system for the traffic management, based on the research, the online edition of Dnevnik daily reported.

The Dutch will allow for the purpose 200,000 EUR.

The project agreement was signed on Monday, January 28 by Sofia's mayor Boiko Borisov and the Dutch Ambassador to Bulgaria Willem van Ee.

The project will be executed by Dutch and Bulgarian experts.

The necessary sum of 10 million EUR for the traffic management system will be demanded by EU funds, explained Bulgaria's deputy Minister of Transport Velizar Stoilov.

Last year the Dutch government suggested to Bulgaria to encourage the bicycle riding. Unfortunately there are still no suitable bike alleys in Bulgaria's capital.

Sofia's main architect Peter Dikov tried to excuse the lack of bike alleys with the shortage of such projects.

The electronic traffic system will be entered in function this year on several key crossroads in the capital, reported Velizar Stoilov.

Sofia's traffic biggest problem is the lack of discipline among the drivers, was commented on the meeting yesterday.
