Golf Is Not the Life-Belt of Bulgarian Tourism

The organization has sent on February 12, a letter with a standpoint adressed to PM Sergey Stanishev, the Minister of Regional Development Asen Gagauzov and the chairperson of State Agency of Tourism (SAT) Anelia Krushkova.
In the text, BAAT expresses its sharp disagreement and remonstration against the state's intentions to support financially and politically the constructing of golf complexes in Bulgaria.
Its inadmissible for the state to places in the centre of its attention the interests of massive economy characters while in the same time is doing nothing to improve the tourism business climate.
This way the authority suspends the small and middle enterprises from participation in strategically important objects, stated Liubomir Popyordanov chairman of BAAT's governing council.
Main argument for not agreeing with the building of golf complexes is related to catastrophically bad consequences in ecological point of view.
The golf is not so necessary for the sustainable development of tourism and attracting of tourists, Popyordanov added.
According to his words the golf is not the save-belt of Bulgarian tourism, who headed downwards. Bulgaria posses the newest and most modern hotels but has no vision for their filling up with tourists.
