Iraqi Debt to Bulgaria: Double of What Bulgarians Know

According to the agency, final “technical negotiations” with Iraq are carried out and afterwards Bulgaria will announce the reached decision.
To remind that according to Bulgarian financial ministry the Iraqi debt is $ 1,7 bln – more than two times less than the announced by AP.
Yesterday at the international conference in the Egyptian resort Sharm El Sheikh, the Iraqi Financial Minister informed that Bulgaria is ready to remit 80% of the debt of Baghdad.
Later, Bulgarian Foreign Minister refuted this statement, claiming that Bulgaria has not given such consent.
Other main creditors – Kuwait and Russia declined the proposal for Iraqi debt remission, which is a main measure for stabilizing the situation in the country.
Saudi Arabia on its part informed that there were still negotiations going on for remitting the billions dollars debt of Iraq,
Iraqi debt, which amounts to $100 bln and its remission are a main issue of the regional conference in the Egyptian resort.
Iraq owes $ 15 bln to Kuwait, $ 13 bln – to Russia and $ 8 bln to China. The Chinese foreign minister noted that Beijing is ready to partly or completely remit the Iraqi debt.
