The population of homeless dogs in the Bulgarian capital has increased compared to the last year.
Janeta Jekova, official in "Programs" sector of "Four paws" foundation, reported that in the moment the "street dogs" in Sofia are round 17 000. In spring they are expected to become 20 000.
Resolution of the problem is massive castration program, that includes not only dogs but cats as well.
The cats are not so many as the dogs are. But if the castration program seizes only dogs, there is a possibility for the cats' population to multiply.
After the castration process, next step is the withdrawal of homeless animals into shelters.
