Bulgarian ambassador in the United States Elena Poptodorova claimed that the pronouncement of Kosovo's independence is just a matter of time.

She confirmed, cited by BNR, that Bulgaria would not be among the first countries to recognize independent Kosovo.

The process will be based on the Security Council resolution 1244, without however any prospects for a new resolution to be adopted. It is more like all countries are preparing for the already known, claimed Poptodorova.

I believe that the pronouncement of the independence of Kosovo was only a matter of time and not whether it will be pronounced or not.

Just yesterday I spoke with the assistant secretary-general Daniel Freed, who expressively emphasized in front of me that he understood Bulgaria's reasons for not being among the first to recognize Kosovo.

From Bulgaria it is expected to do what it has always done – to work in the framework of the EU and to be active in the preparation of this joint platform, because only the EU is now the important element, the important factor is this quite complicated equation.
