In 2007, the centre of Sofia, including the area around  the boulevards: "Vasil Levski", "Patriarh Evtimii", "Hristo Botev" and "Slivnica", will become the so-called "blue zone" or also a restricted parking area. This was reported by the deputy mayor fortransport Velizar Stoilov, cited by Darik radio.

The Municipality is not planning to increase urban transport tickets in 2007. By the end of the year, it will introduce a new tax system. As a city, Sofia already has a general urban plan, accepted by the Parliament, so there should be a basis on which the infrastructure of the city will be built.

The Bulgarian capital is a monocentric city, with all the streets going radially to the centre-and this is the main obstacle to traffic. Tunnels or tangents should be built, as they are staked on in the plan.

Stoilov added that Sofia Municipality is working very hard on the extension of the subway system. He believes that by the end of 2008 the connection from "Liulin" to "Mladost" will be finished. Also, there are ready with a project about the"Nadejda" and "Cherni vrah" overhead crossing.
