The relics of Saint Joseph (husband of Mary, Jesus's foster-father) were received for buying in the National History Museum. The relics are put in an oval silver box with golden encrusting. It is sealed with red wax and silken threads.
The box came with a charter of authenticity, issued on 15.07. 1770 and reaffirmed on 23.11. 1772 by Bishop Nikolay Angel Maria Landini, perfect of the Vatican reliquary (the Pope's institution, dealing with relics), announces NHM.
The box with the relics of Saint Joseph was meant to be encrusted in the throne column of a newly built temple.
The holy relics and the charter were given to the NHM by an antiquary, but the museum's representatives stated that the Catholic Church is free to buy them and use them as initially meant.
Other saints' relics have come in to the NHM, but they were sent to the Rila Monastery and the Ecclesiastical Seminary.
A silver cross with an encrusted piece of wood from the Holy Cross is kept in the HHM. Several museum employees claim that their headache immediately ceases, once they touch the cross.
