The Spanish basketball specialist Jose Maria Buceta signed today in Bourgas a 4-year contract with the Bulgarian basketball federation. He will lead the Bulgarian national female team, informed Topsport.bg. The former coach of Spain was presented today in Burgras at a special press conference.

“I am happy to take up Bulgaria. I think the female basketball here has a great potential. I hope to help the development of the orange ball game as a whole. I am aware that the local championship consists of only 9 teams but the aim is to work with all clubs on absolutely all levels. In the female basketball it is very important to focus on the motivation and the psyche of the players. I am specialist exactly in this and I think I can help. I hope the quality of Bulgaria to reach higher levels and the number of the teams to increase”, claimed at his presentation  Jose Maria Buceta.

Buceta’s assistant will be Jose Luis Ernandes, who undertakes the national female team for up to 20 years.

“The person is as big as his dream are”, said the president of the Bulgarian basketball federation Michail Michov. “Today is a big day for out female basketball. I believe the new coach is the right choice, because our arrangement is he to work for the overall development of this sport in Bulgaria. This will be our common cause. Based on this the aim is qualification for the Olympics in London in 2012. I know it will be difficult but we should think only in this aspect.”
