The Roman stadium in Plovdiv, Bulgaria could become an element in the advertisement brochure of the town provided the European Union decides to grant 900 000 euro for its restoration.

The project is sent to Brussels for final approval.

The money will be start one for the future underground museum of Philipopolis (ancient name of Plovdiv). If the archaeologists have enough force, part of the antique street will be restored as well. Its remains are now under the current main street “Alexander I”.

The most audacious dreams connect the Roman stadium with the Odeon and other yet unexpected ancient monuments and buildings.

A virtual connection with the Archaeological museum and a 3D presentation of the findings are planned, informs BNT.

Suitable illumination and adequate access for people with disabilities are also to be proposed.
