Bulgarian mafia differs from the Sicilian one, that's why direct comparing can not be made. Even partial, the difference exists, stated the German journalists Jurgen Rot.

He is currently threatened by Bulgaria's Internal Minister Rumen Petkov that will bring him to court due to calumny.

Rot shares that he knows Bulgaria from a long time and he is shocked that ‘such a cancer formation like the mafia succeeds to grown'.

According to Rot local mafia still has the word in Bulgaria, even transformed, local mafia representatives act now in the state.

The reason is hidden in the system, in the old structures of the nomenclature, which has been related to criminal structures, said Jurgen Rot adding that the mafia in Bulgaria reaches the government.

He also commented that after Bulgaria joined the European Union, local criminal criminality doesn't decrease, on the contrary - it enlarges.

He pointed out that everyone in Bulgaria - politicians, journalists, policemen are scared to speak in public and to defend their thesis for the true things.

One is scared for his life, another for his job. This is understandable, that's the climate in this society and this is horrifying, Rot stated.
