Cecil Karatancheva, who is competing for Kazkhstan, is only one victory from second participation in the main Wimbledon scheme. The 19-year old tennis player defeated the American Lilia Osterlo with 6:2, 6:1 in the second round of the qualifications. Her next rival is another US representative Abigail Spears.
In 2005 Karatancheva reached the second round in London and was defeated by the defending her title Maria Sharapova (RUS). Before that Cecil disqualified the Briton Amanda Keen with 7:5, 6:7, 7:5. Last season she dropped off in the second qualification round in London.
Later today Karatancheva and Tsvetana Pironkova continue with the pairs competition and their contenders will be the put under ¹7 Ìatilde Johansson (FRA) and Joanna Raluza Olaru (ROM). Tsveti and Cecil trained together in pairs in Plovdiv at the end of Karatancheva’s doping punishment in the winter of 2007 with the pre-assumption to make a tandem for Fed Cup.
