The project, in which Bulgaria participates, had to start no later than 2012. In January, the executive director of the Russian energy giant Alexei Miller promised that the pipe will run no later than 2013 and reiterated that this is a "realistic" deadline.

But in the project "General outline for development of the gas industry by 2030" the start of "Southern stream" has been postponed by nearly 2 years. The deadlines for gradual start of the gas pipe relate to the period 2015-2024. For the first time the exact projected capacity is being mentioned - 31 billion cubic meters per year.
