Pomorie holds referendum for Burgas – Alexandrupolis pipleine today

A referendum for the pipeline Burgas-Alexandrupolis is held today in Pomorie municipality, Bulgaria.
The election day started at 6 am in 47 sections, informed the chairman of the municipal election committee.
In Pomorie municipality a little over 23 000 people have the right to vote. The referendum for the pipeline is held at the decision of the Municipal council in Pomorie.
To remind, at an exclusive municipal session, held on 10 April, the councilors in Pomorie took the decision for the holding of a referendum on 16 May when the citizens of Pomorie municipality will have to answer the question “Do you approve of the construction of the oil pipeline Burgas-Alexandrupolis with a route of the pipeline and installations situated on the territory of Pomorie municipality?”
According to the residents of Pomorie now is the moment for holding the referendum since the project is already at the stage of research and there are specific options being prepared for its implementation. During the session the people from Pomorie protested in front of the building of the municipality against the construction of the oil pipeline.
