Every forth child in Bulgaria goes to school with fear because of the torment he/she suffers there.
This show the results of a study of Bulgarian psychologists, part of UNICEF project. The project against school bullying has continued for two years and has been conducted in five schools in Sofia.
The results show that the bullying among children decreases but in the fight against it should be joined not only by the children but also by the teachers and the parents.
The project is expected to continue the new school year in eight more schools in Sofia and gradually to be applied in the country. The psychologist Ivan Igov admitted that there is still what to be done in order the torment over children to decrease.
Igov said also: “Those who are the aggressors find those who react with withdrawal, in order to “show” themselves on the others. But as a whole, these are the future losers in our society. Studies in other countries show that 60% of the violators are people who have problems with the law, and 40% repeat their violations. The victims are people, who afterwards have the most problems in their adaptation to life as adults. We bring up the future violators and the future victims in school if we don’t make anything to change this”.
