Strike of workers and employees of the power supplying company E.ON might leave Northeastern Bulgaria without power in the beginning of October, warned in Veliko Tarnovo the chairman of the strike committee at the “Podkrepa” trade union Stefan Dimitrov.

According to the law energy suppliers do not have the right to stop the power supply, but the emergency groups will not fix the damages in case effective strike actions start.

The discontent of the workers is caused by the company's intention to fire 173 people because of lack of money for paying the salaries.

According to Stefan Dimitrov the firing of employees will have a negative effect on the quality of service. It will also increase the possibilities for damages and accidents and the remaining in the company technicians will be unable to manage the double increase volume of work.

On Friday the Strike committee has started a list demanding on the personnel not to be reduced, the job characteristics of the employees not to be changed unilaterally by the company and the salaries to be increased with 25% from October 1st.

If the list is signed by 851 people – half of the employees plus one – there will be negotiations with the management board of E.ON Bulgaria Networks.

Three years ago 1400 people have been fired by the enterprise. Currently there are 1700 people working in E.ON Bulgaria Networks.
