"Flowers of the Quran" - screening of Middle East movies in the Red House

"The Flowers of the Quran" is a programme of films produced in the Middle East which will be screened in the Red House with the support of different embassies of Middle Åast countries. Tomorrow (January 20)'s film comes from Iran and is called Tear of the Cold (Ashk-e sarma) (written and directed by Azizollah Hamidnezhad; Cast - Parsa Pirouzfar, Golshifteh Farahani, Iran, 2004, 96 min.)
The plot takes place in 1983, during the eight year war between Iran and Iraq. A small Iranian squadron is fighting Kurdish separatists. A young soldier from the engineering corps, an expert in mine detection, arrives to help. A beautiful Kurdish girl is assigned with entrapment of the soldier so that her comrades can kill him. Fate, however, naturally entraps the two protagonists in a cave in the bitter cold of the winter and the girl must fight her growing affection for the soldier to be able to fulfil her mission.
The screening starts at 7.30 p.m. in the Red Hall.
