Sofia mayor Boiko Borissov met yesterday in Milan the city's mayor Letizia Moratti, informed the Sofia municipality press-center.

During the meeting, the tow mayors have discussed the possibilities for cooperation in three main directions: waste-management, projects about the energy system and the cogeneration and creation of sustainable city environment and stable mobility.

It has taken Milan nearly 10 years to resolve its problem with household waste, informed Moratti. Today the city uses the integrated approach for the waste traetment, added the Italian mayor.

Sofia and Milan will cooperate in the preparation and application for projects for sustainable city environment and stable mobility.

Sofia will apply for funding of traffic management projects, both sides came to an agreement.

At the end of March, delegation of Sofia municipality informed at a businees forum in Vienna that the municipality searched funding for projects, which should be financed till 2013. Then the question was about building a household waste treatment plant in Sofia, extension of the subway, building of undergroud parking lots, modernisation of Sofia transport.
