Sofia is the third most dangerous city in Europe, shows a Eurobarometer study for the quality of life in 75 big cities on the Old Continent. Only Naples (3.5 million people) and Istanbul (11 million people) are before the Bulgarian capital. The safest cities are the Danish Aalborg, the Finnish Oulu (130 000 people) and the Spanish Oviedo (215 000 people).
The ranking is based on telephone interviews of 500 casually chosen residents of each of the researched cities. To the question “Do you feel safe in your city”, two out of three Nepalese and Istanbul residents reply “rarely” or “never”.
The same answer has been given by nearly half of the interviewed Sofia residents, which happened to be enough for the Bulgarian capital to be positioned at the bottom of the ranking. Similar is the result in Bourgas, where one out of three interviewees “rarely” or “never” feels safe. Thus the Black sea city Bourgas is 12th at the bottom up of the ranking.
