Any changes in the defence of the Bulgarian medics is hard to imagine and won't help much, says the Bulgarian Minister of Justice, Georgy Petkanov.

Currently, Gerogy Gatev and Plamen Yalnazov are the two defence lawyers of the Bulgarian nurses but they want Mr Sheitanov to defend them. He also suggested that the trial be moved to another country.

The Bulgarian minister of Justice, Georgy Petkanov said this is hard to achieve as the new lawyers will need six months to go through all the evidence and documents regarding the case.

Two nurses, Cherveniashka and Nenova also demanded that people from the Lawyers without Borders organization also be engaged in their defence.

"This is impossible," Minister Petkanov told reporters, "as their is now such an agreement between Bulgaria and France so the French won't be able to take part in the defence of the nurses," Petkanov said.

The nurses are aware of that and the deputy minister of Justice Margarit Ganev informed them about the situation yesterday when he visited the Bulgarians in Tripoli. Mr Ganev had to wait six days before the Libyan allowed him a visa to leave for Libya and visit the nurses.
