Boyko Borisov, Sofia's mayor said the government should concentrate on the trial in Libya, not on the fireworks and celebrations.

The mayor has sent a letter to his colleague in Kozlodoy, Milko Torbov. Boiko Borisov suggests that mayors should organize a conference and invite one of the best Bulgarian and international experts on nuclear energy. The mayor hopes this will initiate a debate and probabl make the EU reconsifder its decision to close reactors number three and four.

The mayor aslo mentioned the trial in Libya. "There are no fireworks in the Libyan jail where our nurses are held," he said. The government should pull itself together and instead of giving millions to fireworks and laser light shows, try to save the Bulgarian nurses and the nuclear reactors. "We should defend our national pride," the mayor wrote in the letter.

It's easy to put on a sticker with the Bulgarian flag and say you feel for the nurses...and at the same time drink champagne and organize lighs shows. "If we follow the same logic, we are also very concerned about the people who are starving in Somalia right now," the mayor added.

With the laser light show on Saturday we didn't impress the world, neither did we show a glimmer of hope to the Bulgarian medics or the nuclear reactors in Kozlodoy. "There are no fireworks in the Libyan jail," the Mayor said.
